Grimoire Groves is finally out! Thank you to everyone who supported us!
about 1 year ago – Tue, Mar 04, 2025 at 09:02:14 AM

Hello everyone! 👋
Ooooh this is so surreal!

GRIMOIRE GROVES is now released on Steam 😱😱😱
I hope y'all will enjoy the game, we're so excited 🎉🎉🎉

To all of you that backed with a PC key, you should have gotten your key via email a few hours ago.

Thank you all so much for supporting us! We've been working on Grimoire Groves for over 4 years, and having your support was an absolute crucial part of the game's development.
Now we finally can share Grimoire Groves with you, it's like a dream come true 🥰

To all of you who didn't back the game on Kickstarter, but decided to buy, please leave us a review 🥰 It helps our small team so much with Steam’s algorithm! Here's the link to Grimoire Groves Steam page!

What's next?🤔

Of course, for many of you who supported Grimoire Groves here on Kickstarter, the release of the game will not be the last thing you'll get from us. Now that the game is out, we of course first have to make sure that the game runs as smoothly as possible. Thanks to the ones of you who tested the game during the two beta's, there hopefully will not be many super critical bugs left - fingers crossed🤞

After that, we will fully focus on keeping all our Kickstarter promises! We'll make sure that the remaining rewards, such as the art book, the t-shirts and the Nintendo Switch version will be ready as soon as possible, so we can send them out to y'all as soon as possible!

In the meantime, I hope you'll enjoy Grimoire Groves on Steam 😚

It's Magical! Release Date Update! ✨
about 1 year ago – Thu, Feb 06, 2025 at 07:07:26 AM

Hey everyone,

We have some magical news for you! As you might know, Grimoire Groves was previously scheduled to release on March 6th. But with the power of magic it’s finished early and will now be coming to PC via Steam on March 4th

Sorry to everyone who reached out to us, telling us that March 6th is their birthday. (How are there so many of you???) Now, sadly, the game will release before your birthday 🙁😉 But maybe there are also some folks born on March 4th, who will now get a little birthday present🌸

Beta Feedback

But jokes aside, of course we're still working hard on getting the game ready for its release, and addressing your beta feedback is a big part of it! We were glad to hear that overall, everyone who tried the beta thought Grimoire Groves is a lot of fun 🎉

Nonetheless, we wrote down every bug and feedback you sent us, and besides the updates we pushed during the beta, we also have fixed loads in the meantime. Let me use this opportunity to showcase some highlights of what came to live thanks to your feedback 🙏

The first thing I would like to show you are our new changes to the Forgetti List. While this quest list on the left side of the screen is super useful to keep track of what you need to do, many beta testers pointed out, that the list A) gets too long sometimes and B) can cover relevant parts of the screen when you are in the process of feeding plants.  To fix that, we now implemented two improvements:

  • When you keep the Forgetti List open, it will start to scroll, so you can look through all active quests.
  • The Forgetti List also now will not pop open automatically as long as you are connected to a plant. It will remember however, if it has to show you some new progress, so when you finish planting all planties, the list will pop open if it has something to show you 🧠

New Relaxed Mode

One topic that the beta testers discussed a lot, is the game's difficulty. Opinions ranged from "the difficulty is just right" to "omg this is way too challenging!", so it was also important to us that we don't just lower the difficulty and make the players who felt like the difficulty was already good unhappy. So the first thing we did was working on polishing individual plants, to make them feel more rewarding to plant. But we also have been discussing difficulty settings for a while, within the team but also with the community. Difficulty settings are something that many people wished for, as the prefer more relaxed games. Thanks to a change to the plant spawning system that our coder Christoph implemented a few weeks ago, we realized that difficulty settings would be something we can do, and even pushed an update to the beta, so testers could try it out. The new relaxed mode can be activated and deactivated at any time in the game, so you don't even have to decide when you start the game, but rather can switch as you go! ✨

What's Next?

Speaking of "next", Grimoire Groves will be part of Steam Next Fest starting on February 24th, 2025! For everyone who wasn't part of the beta and wants to try the game out, that's your chance! And after that... well, the release is right around the corner 😱 Such exciting times!

Closed Beta 2: Everything you need to know
about 1 year ago – Thu, Jan 09, 2025 at 06:53:34 AM

Hey everyone 👋

Alright! It's a new year and the release of Grimoire Groves is coming closer 🤯 But, as we promised, first we are gonna have our second beta. This post will be a bit shorter than usual, but I will try to lay out everything you need to know about the beta!

When Will the Beta Start?

The beta will start super soon, next week to be exactly. We will open the beta on January 15th, 2025 and it's expected to run until January 26th.

What Parts of the Game Will Be In the Beta?

Almost everything! If you are a beta tester, you will be able to play through everything, except the last parts of the story and the final challenge of the game. There are still a few things that we are finishing up, so you might encounter a few WIP signs throughout the forest 🚧🌳

What Will Change Between the Beta and the Release Version?

Besides the content that is not available in the beta or still WIP, we have 100% of our development time reserved to work on balancing and your feedback. So please let us know what you think, what things are working well (or not so well) for you, and we will give our best to make the game the best we can with your feedback! You can let us know your thoughts either on our Discord server or via a survey that we will send out once the beta starts.

How Can I Participate?

If you are a Kickstarter backer and backed a tier which includes beta access, you should have already gotten a key to the beta back in August last year, when our first beta was taking place.

If you are not a backer or don't have a tier with beta access, there's still a chance to get access! We are giving away a select few keys on our Discord server, our Bluesky and our Twitter accounts. Good luck!

How Do I Activate the Beta Key?

Once you've received your Steam Key, go to Steam and click on "Add a Game" at the bottom left, then click on "Activate a Product on Steam". In the new pop-up, enter your Steam Key and redeem the code. The Grimoire Groves Playtest game should now appear in your Steam Library

All that is left to do is to install the playtest game aaand that's it!

I Backed A Tier With Beta Access But I Didn't Get a Key

If there are any issues please let us know in the #kickstarter-supporters channel on our Discord, and we'll do our best to help you out! 🎉

Will There Be Another Beta?

No. If you don't have time to play this beta, you'll have to wait until the release. The game will release in March, so after this beta, the release is just a few weeks away 🤯

Well, that's it from us for now, see you in the beta very soon 💕

Last Update of the Year and Second Beta Soon! ✨
about 1 year ago – Thu, Dec 19, 2024 at 02:34:25 AM

Hello everyone 👋

It's almost time for the holidays, and the team will take one last break before the release of Grimoire Groves! Before we take our break however, we have a jam-packed update for you all! ✨

Second Beta Coming Soon 🎮

Let's start with the biggest news first: After our first closed beta this summer we mentioned that there might be another one. And we're quite happy that we can tell you that this will actually happen soon! And we thought since the start of the year is sometimes a bit slow, why not do our beta to fill the gap? This time, the beta will feature almost all game content for you to try out ✨

We'll let you know more about the beta once we get back from our holidays, so stay tuned!

Development Progress 👷‍♀️

In the meantime, we also did quite some progress on the development. Here are some highlights:

We now have one of the Kickstarter stretch goals I was most looking forward to! Introducing the workbench! Here, you can craft your own magical trinkets which you can put into your garden. These boons will help you out on your explorations into the forest. Depending on the trinket, it will boost your energy, make your spells more powerful or increase your compost gain 🌱

As we are finalizing the game, we're doing some last sketches for places you can visit in the game. Usually, we do votes on our Discord to let you choose what you like best, but since the release is approaching so fast, there's no vote this time. But, on our Discord server, you can check out all the cute sketches regardless ✏️

Kickstarter Shoutout🏞️

If you are looking for more cozy games on Kickstarter, you can currently check out the River Towns campaign!

River Towns is a relaxing city puzzler in which you piece together beautiful towns along the river, aiming for that perfect score.

As someone who grew up with Tetris, this surely looks interesting ✨
